Hapag-Lloyd expands its Oceania product portfolio. During the month of October 2019 (week 43), two new services which will offer weekly direct sailings between Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia on top of our existing South East Asia Australia Loop 1 (SAL) will be launched.

“Connecting via Singapore on our global mainline network, we will be able to offer increased sailing frequency to and from Australian ports, with more connections and shipping options in both directions for Middle East and India Subcontinent”, explains Alice Yin Chung Tham, Senior Director Trade Management Intra Asia.

For cargo from Europe these additional services will allow for:

Smooth and reliable connection in Singapore
Three weekly connections between Singapore and Australia
Access to four weekly services between North Europe and Singapore
Access to three weekly services between Mediterranean and Singapore
Wide range of feeder connections from/to European outports

The SEA and S2A is a cooperation between Hapag-Lloyd, ANL, Maersk and ONE. Services will be operated composing of 7 x 8,500 TEU vessels and 6 x 5,700 TEU vessels respectively. Hapag-Lloyd will be operating one vessel on each service.

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company today announced that MSC Gülsün, the world’s largest container ship, has arrived in Europe after completing its landmark maiden voyage from the north of China.

MSC Gülsün is the first of a new class of 23,000+ TEU* vessels to be added in 2019-2020 to the global shipping network of MSC, a world leader in transportation and logistics.

Built at the Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) Geoje shipyard in South Korea, MSC Gülsün sets a new standard in container shipping, in particular in terms of environmental performance.

At some 400 metres long and more than 60 metres wide, MSC Gülsün has a record-size capacity for a container ship: 23,756 TEU. Bigger ships generally emit less CO2 per container carried, helping companies which move goods on MSC’s services between Asia and Europe to lower the carbon footprint of their supply chains.

As a family-owned group with a strong maritime heritage, MSC is confirming its commitment to investing in the world’s largest and busiest trade lanes with the arrival of MSC Gülsün and the 10 other ships in the pipeline in this class.

MOL President & CEO: Junichiro Ikeda announced the company’s recent transport of fire engines to Paraguay, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Paraguay in Japan.

This is an ongoing activity starting in 2010. This year marked the 12th time, and to date MOL has transported a total of 68 engines.

This time, five fire engines were loaded aboard the MOL-operated car carrier Wisdom Ace at the Port of Yokohama, arriving at the Port of Asuncion on July 31. The engines will contribute to firefighting operations in the country.

MOL takes a proactive stance in social contribution activities that are unique to an ocean shipping company with a global network.

Ocean Network Express (ONE) and the Kramer Group have recently strengthened their partnership by opening a dedicated ONE Line container depot in the port of Rotterdam. The newly opened depot is strategically located at Rotterdam Maasvlakte which is close to all main line terminals creating a flexible hub for empty and laden containers.

Andre Kramer, CEO of Kramer Group praised the partnership, “We consider this unique concept as a big step forward in our partnership with Ocean Network Express and look forward to similar projects with them going forward”.

Johan Pijpers of Ocean Network Express (Europe) Ltd commented, “By integrating operational processes between both companies, ONE ensures best-in-class service to its customers but at the same time ensuring that ONE is set up for growth in one of the most important ports in Europe”.

The depot, complete with onsite repair shop, has a storage capacity of 12,000 TEU including 70 reefer plugs over an area of 100,000m². There are 2 reach stackers, 3 empty handlers and 2 gantry cranes in operation as well as a 260-meter quay for feeder and barge operations. The new ONE depot also has fully automated gates and real time EDI connections offering advanced security and efficiencies for customers.
